I am NEW to web design

Scott

Hi,

I am new to web design and am looking to buy software to create a basic web
page.
I want to consider Frontpage, but I would like to see peoples opinion of the
software.
-
My knowledge of web design is very basic.
I can make text BOLD and add pictures and create links.
-
What I want to do is have a basic web page
A page with about 200 items (to buy).
I want the web viewer/customer to be able to see a "form" of all 200 items
Be able to check-mark the item they want, and insert a quantity.
After they do this, they hit the Order Button... I need that "form" to be
emailed to me.
-
Right now, I use a program called formmail.
It emails a VERY BASIC form, and is not user friendly to the customer.
-
-
So is Frontpage a program for me?

Thanks for any input.

You will have difficulty finding a copy of FrontPage to buy, except on
Ebay with all the attendant risks, because FrontPage has been
discontinued.

The replacement is Expression Web - a trial is available from
http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/download.aspx?key=web

IMPORTANT: Do not forget the product key obtainable from a link on that
page.

For your application you will also need a Shopping Cart. This is not
trivial to build yourself and cannot be described as "basic", there are
many carts available costing between free and $$$$, the free carts
generally being harder to set up.

If your customers are also expected to pay on line using a credit card,
you will need a professional web designer and advice from your bankers.
Email will be a non-starter unless you also use encryption for the
emails (and your bankers may object anyway), though paying through
PayPal is an alternative.

The cart you choose will depend on what your server supports - the most
popular options are:
Windows server: asp or asp.Net, Access or MS SQL server
Unix Server: php, mySQL

Thank you Ronx

My Shopping Cart might be described as "Basic".
I will not need any form of billing.
What happens now is:
people browse the site, and check off items they want.
Then an email comes to me with those items on it.
I later send them an invoice for the items.
(I will send you more info in private)
