Is there some way to a filter to apply to the “My Tasks” page? This is the
page that takes forever for me to use because I have to scroll through so
much old stuff.

Are these old completed tasks? If they are completed - there is no
more work to do - then, if you view includes "Remaining Work", change
the value to 0 (zero) and submit. Zero remaining work means the task
is complete. If you don't see Remaining Work in the view, you may be
able to click on the Task Name itself to bring up the Assignment
Details page, which has a Remaining Work field.
You can also use the view controls on My Tasks to select Show Current
Tasks, which will show only those tasks that meet the definition of a
current task as defined by the Project Server admin. Usually those
are tasks that have started or will start within 10 days, or overdue
tasks.
Of course, if you are assigned to a whole bunch of operational and
support tasks that stretch from January to December, there isn't a lot
you can do. Talk to the Project Server admin about different ways to
do that kind task .
