This problem will happen a couple of times a month but will repeat until
3000-4000 emails come in. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I
solve it?

There could be any number of causes, but you give no information at all
about what version of Outlook you have, what type of account (and its
settings) you're using, or what, if any, add-ins you have integrated into
Outlook. How do you expect an answer except from a psychic?

The first thing to do is to make sure your Outlook is up-to-date. The next
thing to do is to make sure you are NOT scanning mail with an antivirus
scanner. The tird thing to do is to make sure your send/receive interval,
if any, is no less than about ten minutes. Have you enabled the option to
leave copies of messages on the server? I'm assuming your account type is
POP, but you didn't say even though I asked for that information.

Brian your responses are coming across as very hostile. It is very easy for
someone to leave off information that you need when they are not tech savvy.
It would do you well to tone down your responses and ask in a more friendly
way.

Your answers are helpful when you give them but you are coming across in a
very negative way.

Care to say how? I hope you don't think you can read my mind based on what
I post in a newsgroup.

in a very negative way.

If it seems negative, then you are supplying the negativity.
