I am trying to create a directory to be shared across a network

I have an important assignment to complete by tomorrow? The task is to
create a suitable directory/folder structure for three departments of a
company which will hold all types of documents and can be shared across a
network? I have tried the help which has told me how to open a directory but
how do I now share it across a network and I am unsure as to what path I
should put in when trying to set it up. Can anybody help me please - urgently
