I can no loger insert an item in a task.. Insert item is greyed

I can not attach an email or journal entry when I have a task opened. When I
click the insert tab "item" is greyed out. I can still attach a file. I
recently backed up my outlook and business contacts files. Is Outlook having
trouble finding them now?

I have an identical issue to Ken, and have had little luck finding a
solution, up to and including calling the MS helpdesk.

One of my user’s is having trouble adding items to his tasks in Outlook 2003.

Normally, in an open task, you’d click Insert > Item… but for whatever
reason, in some of his tasks, Item… is greyed out.

Note that he can still click Insert > File and Insert > Object fine, and
that also, Item… is only greyed out in some of his tasks, not all.

There is no discernable pattern I can see either. Just seems random, but
always the same tasks.

If anyone has any idea why this might occur, I'd love to know. Driving me
(and the user) just a little nuts.

UPDATE 5/22/06
After several days thie problem has fixed itself. I didn't do anything to
fix it. I had already closed and restarted Outlook and rebooted my PC
several times before my original post. That alone did not correct the
problem. I do not know what did. -- Ken
