That suggests that you are using a third party add-in that is incompatible
with your version of Word or is broken. To prove it is not Word, start Word
in Safe Mode and test.
From Start | Run (Winkey+R), type in
winword /a
and press enter. Now open a document, make some edits and Save it. Does it
save correctly now?
