I can print from Excel, Access, webpages- why no Word docs?

I can print just about anything that can be printed regardless of the
application. However, the most common application that I use (Word) fails to
show a "Print Preview" and also does not print. If I have a document opened,
click on File then Print or Print Preview, nothing happens. I know my
printer works well. Additionally, I can take the same Word file and print it
from my laptop. Please help.
