I can receive e-mail but not send

I just recently started having problems with my Microsoft Outlook 2003. I
can receive e-mails but not send them. When I try to send them I get an
error message saying "sending reported error (0x80042109) Outlook is unable
to connect to your outgoing (smtp) e-mail server". Can anyone help please.

Thanks
Glenn

Check your outgoing account settings with your provider.
Disable any antivirus email integration and add-ins that might be blocking
outgoing email.

Sounds like your Mail provider's server (for Outgoing mail) is either
incorrect, or needs authentication to send. Check your mail account - Click
Change / Properties - Click More Settings - Click Outgoing Server - Check the
box for "My Server Requires Authentication". And for the Settings... just
"use same settings as incoming mail server"...

It could be that the outgoing SMTP server is looking for authentication from
you. When you set up your account in Outlook, did you specify your password
for the SMTP server as well as your POP3 server?

It could also be that if you have antivirus set up to scan incoming/outgoing
mail that it's preventing you from connecting. You can safely disable this
feature without compromising security. Your real time antivirus scanner will
catch everything as long as it's updated regularly.

Whatever antivirus application you're using, see if they have a patch or
upgrade for it.

If none of the above work, try creating a new profile to see if that makes a
difference:
