I can use my Access DB but it has no valid file extension

Hi there,

I have a very strange problem. I have created an Access
database but for some reason it has lost it Access file
extension and it shows up as an icon without an
association. I tried to associate it with Access to no
avail.

If I want to work on the db I can select "all files" from
within Access and open the db without a problem. However
I cannot do a "save or save as" when the db is open and
active.

Any ideas what I am missing here?

Have you tried checking &/or setting its extension from the command prompt?
e.g.
--To view
Dir filename*.*

--To rename
Ren filename filename.mdb

thanks James for the quick tip - it worked, what also
worked was to export out of Access as a previous version
and re-import as an .mdb.
