I cancelled a meeting but it did not send cancellation to all atte

I cancelled a meeting in outlook calendar and it did not send a cancellation
to all attendees although I requested to send one. The meeting is still on
their calendars but has been deleted from mine. How do I get this meeting
off of their calendars. Why didn't it send a cancellation to all attendees??
