I cannot copy my Contact List because it is a pst file. Why?

I tried to copy my Outlook Contacts list using instructions for Move Contacts
to another computer. When I tried to email to myself, it would not allow me
to send because it was saved as a .pst file. "Potentially harmful"
Please help.
