I cannot get my Power Point presentation to advance automatically

I have set the timing on each slide using Rehearse Timing; then under the
Slide Show menu, I clicked Slide Transition and then under Advance slide, I
selected the Automatically after ... (the time that was set using Rehearse
Timing. When I start the presentation, the slides do not advance
automatically - I still have to use the mouse to go from slide to slide.
Does "Advanced slide ... Automatically after ..." not really mean what it
implies? Can someone tell me how to get the slides to advance automatically
according to the time set in Rehearse Timing?

Jwo,
When you rehearsed timings in the slide sorter view did you answer yes when
PPT asked you if you wanted to apply the timings and use them. Just asking,
if so, you should see the timing of every individual slide appear in the
left hand corner. There is no need to go to the slide transition task pane
as PPT will check "automatically after" without you having to do anything.
You could consider deactivating the on click possibility just above
"automatically after" if you don't want the user to prematurely transition
ignoring your timing.
In any case go to Slide show - set up show - and see if there is a check
next to use timings. Also check if in the show slides section of the dialog
there is a custom show applied or a range of slides maybe you never know. If
so hit the radio button all slides.

Thanks for your help. I didn't realize it when I posted my question, but
one other thing involved was having added audio to the first two slides.
After adding the audio, I went through the Rehearse Timing routine. I
noticed at the time that I had to click Next twice to get the slides to
advance, but didn't think that that was anything of significance. After
reading your message, I check out everything you suggested and found my
setting to be what you suggested. Afterward, I removed the sound files I had
inserted and reinserted them. What I wanted was to have the slides advance
automatically at the end of each audio file. After going to the Insert Menu,
then MOvies & Sound and then Sound from File and reinserting these sound
files, the slides advanced automatically. Previously, I thought that I had
to first insert the sound files and then go through the Rehearse Timing
routine - - this approach caused the slides not to advance at all.

Thanks again for your response - it helped me (indirectly) solve my problem
