I cannot get my word 97 to open

hello folks. it keeps telling me it has peformed an illegal operation witht he following details:

then it tells me it can't find C:/windows/document name (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and thatall require libraries are available.

i tried opening word by itself and through other documents, but word will just not open. Help!!
