I cannot get web sites to recognize my Internet explorer 6

whenever I attempt to reach web sites that need Internet Explorer 6 or later
I get
a message that I don't have IE 6.0 on my computer. But when I try to
redownload IE 6.0 again i get a notice saying that I have a newer version of
IE than 6.0. and Explorer isn't recognized on my computer nor can I un
install IE 6

Please help me.

part of Office. Please repost in the appropriate place - there are plenty of
