I cannot insert GIF files into Publisher2000

Somehow Publisher cannot access the GIF Filter files--they are there. It
will insert WPFs. This happened after I installed a trial version of
Office2007 on my home computer which is not connected to the Internet. I
removed it but somehow the access to the GIF files went with it. When I
attempt to repair Publisher2000 with my SRdisk2 nothing happens. Disk Check
says everything is fine. What am I doing wrong? Don't say system restore--I
am running XPPro and for some reason the checkpoint is after the problem.
HELP!!!!!

Rename the .gif filter (GIFIMP32.FLT) to GIFIMP32.OLD. Drag a new instance of
the filter from your setup disk.
The filters are in a folder similar to this:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Grphflt

Mary--Thank you--I was a little scared to try that. Do I literally drag it?
And is it just the one ofr should I drag the whole thing. Please Reply at

Yes, you literally drag. Select the file, hold down the mouse button and drag.
You are only dragging a copy, it won't erase it from the CD.

If it is only the .gif extension you are having problems with, then just change
it.

You can copy/paste it to the folder or save it to your desktop and drag it from
there.

Thanks to both of you. I finally got the thing to work. If I weren't so
obsessed with clip art it probably wouldn't have bothered me--but I can't
live on WMFs.

ClipArt is best used in WMF and EMF formats in Publisher if at all
possible, unless you're using stock photography. GIFs are better for web
usage.
