if you know how to handle the registry
start > run > regedit
navigate to the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MASHINE\Software\Clients\Mail
doubleclick on the "Default" (right side)
and insert Microsoft Outlook as value
What happens when you try to make Outlook your default? What version are you
using
