Hi Chaser,
I'm assuming you have installed Office 2007 rather than Office 97? The spelling tools from Office 97 should work with Outlook
Express, although there is occasionally a registry key that gets set that turns them off.
MS Outlook Express is a part of MS Internet Explorer. It has never been provided with its own MS Spell check capability, but did
hook into the older Office proofing tools if available. Folks who didn't have Office have pretty much relied on the 3rd party
products for a number of years.
The Explorer team hasn't yet, and may not, updated the older Outlook Express product to hook into the new contextual spelling
proofing tools that were put into Office 2007 to replace the older tools.
===============
This is detailed and helpful but does NOT cover the KB932974 situation, in which, having installed Office 97, I find myself able to
spell check perfectly in OE so long as I write my email in French! In suggesting a third party spell checker as a solution,
Microsoft is being neither constructive nor professional, in my view. >>
