I am trying to add a calculated item to a pivot table so that I can compare
the sum of actual sales (which is reported on a daily basis) to a sales
projection (which is done on a weekly basis). In trying to add the
calculated item to the pivot table, I kept getting an error message "there
are too many records to complete this operation." Eventually, Excel allowed
me to add the calculated item, but now it won't allow me to group days into
weeks. I get a different error message "Because a Pivot Table report field
is grouped, you can not add a calculated item to this report" which makes no
sense since I have already added the calculated item to the pivot table.
