Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Instructions for creating a T of C are to go to the view menu and select Print Layout, then in Elements, select Doc Elements, then select T of C, Heading Style, click Doc, where to place, Elements, choose design of T of C.

Well, I can't do step 1.because Print Layout is not listed. I have these listed: Normal, Online Layout, Page Layout, Notebook Layout.

I'd like to create a T of C but with these selection. Can you assist? ASAP please. Thanks.

Try Page Layout, even though Normal also works very well for this. It may be
called Print Layout in earlier versions of Office, or perhaps in the Windows
version.

Hi Milly;

I'm not sure where you got them but the confusion comes from the fact that
the "instructions" you're going by evidently pertain to a different version
of Word - most likely Word 2008.

In Word 2004 the view is called Page Layout View, but even so there is no
Elements Gallery in that version. Use the Help menu in your version of Word
for directions that apply to that version. Search using the topic/keywords:

About creating a table of contents

Or go to Help's Index to find table of contents information.
