Hi,

I can't seem to get any floating toolbars to dock above the menu bar. In the excel help, the topic "customize toolbars and menu" says "Notes:
If a toolbar does not have a Dock check box, it cannot be docked under the Standard toolbar. However, you can manually drag any floating toolbar up to the Menu bar to dock it there." I can click on and drag floating toolbars, like the formula builder toolbar, but I can't get it to dock anywhere.
Thanks for your help!

You can't position toolbars *above* the Menu Bar -- that's a constraint
imposed by the OS. You can dock floating toolbars immediately *below* the
Menu Bar, though. Drag the bar up toward the Menu Bar slowly. As its top
edge meets the bottom of the Menu Bar you should see it 'snap' into a locked
postion.

If you still have trouble getting it docked here's a little technique that
may help: Move the toolbar away from the Menu Bar, then drag a workbook
window up close to the Menubar -- leave just a small gap between the two.
Drag the toolbar toward the Menu Bar & the instant the workbook window jumps
down you'll know you're in the right place.

Hi Bob-

Thanks for the reply, but I still can't seem to get any toolbars to snap into a locked position below the menu bar. I tried your trick, but the menubar is always fixed at the top of my workbooks - even if several workbooks are open, each one has its own fixed menubar at the top. Would it help if I could send you a screen shot of my open workbook? I've got one saved, but don't know how to attach it to this post.

Thanks again.

What you are referring to is *not* the Menu Bar. The Menu Bar is the strip
at the very top of your screen that contains the words (Menu Topics)
beginning with the Apple Logo followed by Excel, File, Edit, View etc.

What you are referring to is the Standard Toolbar.

The only Excel toolbars which can be docked inside the file (workbook)
window are (a) the Standard Toolbar itself, which *must* remain docked there
or be turned OFF altogether, and (b) the Formatting Toolbar. No other Excel
toolbars can be docked within the workbook window.
