I can't get large video to play in Powerpoint 2003

Hi,

I have a powerpoint slide show that is not playing video files larger than
about 60 MB. The image shows up in the slide when in edit mode, but when you
go and put it into the slideshow mode, the video screen goes black on one of
the videos, and just plays the audio with a black screen on the other video.
We tried it in a 2002 version of powerpoint and it worked fine. It also
works in Windows Media Player. If you go forward a slide, and then go back,
then it will play. Is this a bug? Thank you,

Sounds like you may need to upgrade your video card drivers, or turn video
hardware acceleration down a notch or two. You might also consider giving
PFCMedia a try as it will significantly reduce the size of the file and
convert it to somethig a bit more friendly to PowerPoint.

Hi again,

Both the PC and the laptop are brand new (within the last month), with the
top of the line video drivers because of the amount of multimedia that I do.
How do I change the video hardware acceleration? I may try the PCFMedia
if that doesn't work. Thank you,

I did get the one video to play (the one that had audio but no video) by
reducing the acceleration. I never did get the other one to play. But if I
need to advance forward and then go back just that one time out of the entire
presentation to get it to work, that is within my realm of "Ok, I can deal
with it." : )

Is there a certain size of video file that Powerpoint 2003 has problems
with? I didn't have any of these issues with Powerpoint 2002 and my older
laptop, and I used files larger than 100M at times.

I'll have our IT folks look into any updates for the video drivers that may
be out there.
