I can't get Word to come up as my email editor!

I've just installed Office XP Standard, Student and Teachers version, on my
new computer as the old one tanked out. When I try to write an email now in
Outlook, it tells me that it cannot find Word or that Word is busy. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled the Office suite, restarted the computer,
everything I know how to do in my simple knowledge of this stuff. Any
suggestions? I used the Help section and turned Word on as the default editor
and that still did not do the trick. HELP.
