I can't open my file after I have saved it with an index

I have 2 questions:

1) After putting an index into a fiile that I'm working on and then saving,
I receive the following error message which won't allow me to open the file:

Part:/word/header11.xml, Line: 2, Column: 583

What does this mean and how can I fix this?

2) I'm wondering if there is a difference between Office Professional 2003
and Small Business 2007? We originally had Office Professional 2003,
upgraded to the Small Business 2007 and have issues with WORD ever since in
that it crashes on us, can't open files as an example in question 1? Any one
have any thoughts as to whether this might be something affecting the crashes
and error messages?

Thank you!

Hi Suzanne,
I can't seem to locate the "open and repair", usually it should give you
that option when you right click, right?

I still haven't been able to open the file and I'm starting to wonder if it
has to do with the fact that we had Microsoft Professional 2003 and then
updated to Microsoft 2007 Small Office. Any other thoughts as to why this
might be happening?

Or where I might go to look for this "open and repair"?

Thank you.

In Word's File | Open dialog, click the arrow beside Open to get the Open
and Repair option.

Click on the little arrow attached to the OPEN button in the File Open
dialog.

Thank you, it should be as simple as that but when I go to File Open dialog
there isn't a "Open and Repair" button. Not sure what to do. Remember this
is a 2007 version.....Thanks anyway.

Well, strictly speaking, there isn't a File | Open dialog in Word 2007
(since there's no File menu). But there is an Open dialog, and there is
definitely an Open and Repair option. No one said it was a button. Please
read our instructions again: select the file, then click the arrow beside
the Open button. This opens a menu the last item on which is Open and
Repair.

Hi there,

I finally figured that one out. But when I try to open and repair it won't
because it says that there are problems with the file. same error message
that I had before.

Any other thoughts as to what I can do to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem (thought it was something I was doing) but
every time I create an index and save the file I cannot open it again, the
open and repair doesn't work and I am at a loss as to how to resolve this. I
am a trainer and need to be able to demonstrate creating TOC's and indexes
and I cannot show them an example!! if anyone has a solution it would be
much appreciated, thankyou
