I have Windows XP, with service Pack 2 and Outlook 2003.
Up until Sunday, May 15, 2005, I have been able to receive all attachments
in .doc. Starting Monday, May 16, 2005, I have not been able to open all of
my attachments, even though they are in .doc. (In fact, there is no
indication that there is an attachment.)
There is no paper clip or message telling me that there is an attachment,
but the writer of the email says there is. I checked my other email account
(Hotmail) where a copy of the same email was sent by the same emailer. The
attachment and paperclip appeared and was able to be opened in Hotmail.
I looked under the instructions from "Open an attachment" in Outlook 2003.
My inbox did not display a paperclip icon in the attachment column, and there
was not any information about blocked attachments in my InfoBar on the top of
my message.
I tried sending attachments to myself my Outlook account, which is Wide Open
West, and my Hotmail address. All of the emails made it to their
desitnations, but only my Hotmail account got all of the attachments, which
were .docs.
I then sent an attachment to my WOW (Wide Open West) account and checked the
Webmail, instead of in Outlook 2003. WOW accepted the .doc attachments.
I have not changed any controls on my computer. The only new items installed
on my computer were Spamkiller updates from McAfee and Windows/Office
updates.
