I can't resize my toolbars!!!

This happened in my last version of Office:Mac. It's the same way in
Office: Mac 2004.

I can't resize my toolbars so I can see all of my tools. The toolbars
don't even go halfway across my desktop. I have tried grabbing the
handle in the lower right-hand corner and pulling. Nuthin. It looks
clickable. It looks drag-able. It's not.

I like to customize my toolbars, and I like to see all my tools. I
don't want to have to click on the triangle to see a drop-down menu of
the rest of my tools.

Is this possible? Am I missing something? I've used Excel on a PC and
Mac for years and years, and I've always been able to resize my
toolbars.

Also, why

BTW, my version of Office is updated to the last update. I'm using it
on OS 10.3.8.

Hello-

Bad news first- the default toolbars cannot be stretched to be any longer
than they come 'out of the box', even if you drag them to a floating
position.

The good news is you can still fully customize their content as well as
create your own. If you add buttons to _any_ toolbar it will widen
accordingly.

That isn't unique to default toolbars.

*NO* toolbar can be stretched to be longer than the number of controls
it contains.

Built-in toolbars have a special contextual control named "More Buttons"
that have a pop-up menu containing other controls, but those controls
aren't on the toolbar itself.

The good news is you can still fully customize their content as well as
create your own. If you add buttons to _any_ toolbar it will widen
accordingly.

Except that, unfortunately, AFAICT the "More Buttons" control isn't
accessible via the GUI or VBA.

That's the thing. As I said, "I can't resize my toolbars so I can see
all of my tools. The toolbars don't even go halfway across my
desktop."

When I try to add buttons to my toolbar, it just ends up in the "More
Buttons" drop-down menu, and **doesn't lengthen my toolbar**. This
irritates me to no end. Even if I have 10 extra buttons in the "More
buttons" menu, my toolbar still remains the same length--half the width
or less of the window. I can shorten the toolbars, I just can't
increase their width, except if it's the formula bar. I understand I
can't lengthen them beyond the number of buttons there are in the bar.
I can't lengthen them at all, no matter how many buttons I add to it.

When I used Excel on my PC, I was able to have the toolbar go the width
of the window. With my Mac, not so much. I've been using Excel for at
least the last 10 years. I used to be a bookkeeper, so I'm pretty savvy
about Excel. I even taught a class about it.
