I created an access database on a personal pc. When it was complete, I put
the database on a server in a shared folder. A shortcut was created to the
database in the shared folder and and each of the desktops had a link to the
shortcut on the server. When I open the database at any of the desktops,
using the shortcut to the shared folder on the server where the database is
at, it gives me a message indicating that the database is read-only. I click
ok and it opens the database, but the form is completely blank and there is
no data showing up in the table. If I create a copy of the database and put
it on the desktop on the C:/ drive you can see everything no problem.
I am thinking about splitting the database, but while several people need to
be able to access the form to enter in information, I don't really want more
than one person entering in information at one time.
Will splitting the database fix the read-only issue and allow each desktop
to access and update the form, one at a time??
