Hi everyone,
Please help me if you can, i'll really appreciate it.
I reloaded Windows and after restarting I could not find the Outlook Express address book. I looked in my docs and settings/"name"/localsettings/applicationdata/identities. There are a bunch of .DBX files t, but the contacts file is only 59kb. I don't know what to do with these files….

Outlook Express is an older email client that stored contacts in a Windows Address Book (WAB) file. If you’re trying to locate it, here’s where you can check:

1. Default Address Book Location

Look for a .WAB file in these folders:

  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{Your Username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

  • Windows Vista/7/8/10/11 (if migrated from XP): C:\Users\{Your Username}\Contacts

2. Searching for the File

Try searching for *.wab in File Explorer:

  1. Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.
  2. Click on the Search box (top right) and type: *.wab

  3. If found, double-click to open it in an older version of Windows Contacts or import it into another email client.

3. If You Migrated from Outlook Express to Windows Mail or Outlook

  • Windows Mail (Vista) stored contacts in C:\Users\{Your Username}\Contacts.
  • If imported into Outlook, your contacts might be inside a .PST file.
Would you like help with recovering or importing the address book into another program?
