I delete email, a line appears, I must use pruge- a way w/o purge

It is an IMAp account. I had a crash and before the crash, I would go to
select all,
hit the delete X and all the emails would be deleted at once with no lines,
no extra step. It worked before, why not now? Thanks!

If it worked before, then you were not using an IMAP account before or you
were not using Outlook. IMAP in Outlook has always worked like you
describe.
