I do not want brackets and spaces to appear in the phone numbers

When i choose a country and area code, the telephone numbers get stored with
spaces and brackets. My contacts list is synchronised with my pocket PC,
therefore when i dial such contacts from my pocket pc i get an error.

I want that there should be any spaces or brackets added to contact phone
numbers
