I don't have a merge cells command.

Once I have the table, i can't seem to merge the cells because i can't find
that command anyhere in WORD. Is there any way i can be able to activate that
command?

There should be something on the Table menu (may vary depending on version),
as well as on the shortcut menu if you have more than one contiguous cell
selected.

It is in the Table Menu. Select 2 cells. Double-click the Table menu instead
of single click to see all the commands instead of Recent used commands.

Further, you can also use this command through Table and Borders toolbar.
Right-click on any toolbar and choose Table and Borders.
