I don't have a product key

I purchased my computer three years ago, second-hand.
It came with Microsoft office 2000 installed.
The person who sold me the computer also gave me the CDs
for the program, but it did not have the Jewel case with
the 25digit product key. I have only the bare CDs.

My problem is that my daughter unistalled office by
accident and I tried to reinstall, but I can't without
the product key.

What can I do?

Do I have to shell out all that money for a new CD?

Yes, you will have to buy a legal version of Office. The person who
sold you the computer probably kept a copy of Office for himself. Which
is why you dont have the CD key. While he has a legal copy, you have a
bootleg version.

Buying a copy is your only recourse. Unless, of course, you can talk
the person who sold you the computer into giving you the ORIGINAL CD key
and CDs, and taking Office off his computer.
