If you are using Insert | Date and Time, make sure that the "Automatically
update" box is not checked. If you are using the Alt+Shift+D shortcut (or
the Insert Date button on the Header and Footer toolbar), note that it will
always insert a DATE field, which will update automatically. You can unlink
this field immediately upon insertion using Ctrl+Shift+F9.
To correct a DATE field in an existing document, press Alt+F9 to display the
field code and change DATE to CREATEDATE. Alt+F9 to toggle back and F9 to
update the field. If the document is based on a template, use the CREATEDATE
field in the template.
