I must be missing something because it's the same way one copies
anything in almost any modern program on a Mac or a Wintel machine.

Try ...

select chart,Ctrl-c for copy, Ctrl-v for paste
Save as ... web page and extract the graphic
Save as ... jpg and you have the graphic
etc.
