I don't WANT to have to "accept" my own Deletions and Changes!

Fantastically obnoxious feature that seems to turn itself on and off as it
pleases.

I created this document.
I am the only person who edits it.
I did not make any changes to any preferences yesterday, when I was in the
middle of happily editing the thing.

Today, Word 2007 is demanding that I "Accept" the slightest change I make to
my own document.

How, in God's name, does one turn off this unwanted nuisance?

You probably toggled tracking on by accident. This can be done either by
clicking Track Changes in the status bar or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+E. You
can also turn tracking on/off in the Review ribbon tab, but I don't believe
it's easy to do by accident.

So... first, turn tracking off (click Track Changes in the status bar so it
says Off). Next, in the Review tab in the ribbon, click Accept - Accept All
Changes in Document.

Finally... if text starts showing up in odd colors... be alert that you
might have accidentally turned tracking back on.

While I've never turned it on by accident, there might be something you're
doing that makes such accidents easier for you than for others. The only
defense I can think of is to be alert to the possibility.

Thank you, Herb! That did it! I wish I could just get some training on this
product!

On the other hand, this Forum has been absolutely invaluable.

Perhaps the existence of resources like this is the reason my boss doesn't
want to spend the money on training...
