I downloaded the trial one note and I am unable to type text or ti

I want to try and use OneNote to keep track of my research for my PhD.
However, after I downloaded it I cannot figure out how to add text to the
page. Everything is light (not in bold print) and it won't let me do
anything. Was the download bad or do I have to do something else to work on
a page?

Is there something on the main part of the screen that
says "There are no sections in this folder" or "This
section is empty"?

Otherwise you should be able to click anywhere and start
typing. Can you clarify what you mean by "everything is
light"? Do you mean the buttons on the toolbar?
