Hi benzino,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Can you open it at all? Did you try closing all other programs to free up
memory? Try opening up Project and then Insert/Project... to insert your
project. If that works, you might have a corrupt file. If you suspect a
corrupt file, you could try the suggestions in FAQ Item: 43. Handling
project file corruption and/or bloat.

Mike, I am getting this same error in Project 2007 Standard after recently
applying Service Pack 2. It arises when I simply press the save icon, not
always, but occasionally. Machine has plenty of memory so I doubt that is a
problem.

The workaround I am using is to "save as" and put in a new name (adding a
version indicator), but that is slow and annoying. If I try to "save as"
with the old file name, a strange thing sometimes happens -- the file starts
to save and it creates a very large file - about 100 times the true file
size. So I suspect some problem with the save logic overwriting the old file
and doing some kind of write loop.

I have seen this problem mentioned in another forum somewhere but I can't
recall exactly where; I have not seen any solution posted anywhere. This is
a big annoyance for those of us who save every two minutes. I hope Microsoft
will identify this and post a solution or a patch in the knowledge base.
Please let us know what you find out. Thanks!

Hi David,

Memory problems aren't necessarily RAM but could be lack of virtual memory.
Project has had this problem for years! Please see FAQ Item: 18. Memory
Problems.
