I have moved an object 'behind text' - how do I now select it?

I have several objects (signatures) that I have put into text documents and
tables and now cannot select them without losing all the existing format of
the text and tables ie deleting the text or table rows to leave the object on
the page by itself, then selecting it. Is there a way to select these
objects easily once they have been moved to behind the text?

In Word 2003 or earlier, display the Drawing toolbar (click on View |
Toolbars | Drawing). On the Drawing toolbar, click on the Select
Objects tool (that's the big white arrow near the left end of the
Drawing toolbar). Then click on the object to select it. When you've
finished modifying the object, remember to click on the Select Objects
tool again to turn it off, or else you won't be able to select text
normally with the mouse.

And in Word 2007 the tool is on the Home ribbon, on the Select button
in the Editing group.
