I have office XP on 1 computer, can I update without office resou.

I just updated my wife's computer with XP SP2 and now I find I can not apply
updates to office XP without first downloading Office Resource Kit. I have
1 computer not a whole network. How can I apply updates as before. Can I
somehow turn off the fact that this computer has an admin function
