Hello,
I really do need some assistance,I have two e mail accounts set up in
outlook XP one for personal mail and one for business mail. The personal
mail is a Yahoo.co.uk account and the other is a private domain set up with
a web hosting company. My ISP is Freeserve although I do not use any
freeserve mail account.
I know that both of my accounts are working correctly because I have had
friends mail me and I have replied using both accounts. The problem that I
am getting is when an ebay customer contacts me and I try to reply on the
same mail, I always get a returned mail saying that it is undeliverable and
that I have a problem with my mail software settings here is the top line
taken from a recent mail

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

Address

SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data:

host mailin-03.mx.aol.com [64.12.137.121]: 554 TRANSACTION FAILED:

(FSV:B2) This email has not been delivered due to an incorrect mail server
setting in your email software. Please

Now I know that Yahoo requires smtp authentication and the box for that is
checked but why can not send a reply using either of my mail accounts. It
only seems to occur when members of ebay contact me. Any ideas as it is
really frustrating.

Are you sending it to an AOL address or from your AOL address? It looks like
AOL server is returning the error, but I'm not sure why. Can you send it
using the private domain's SMTP server? In most cases, you can create an
account in Outlook using the yahoo email address, replacing the SMTP with
your other SMTP server, using the authentication information it requires.

questions:

1. do your two accounts share the same smtp server setting?
if so, you might try the one that you're not using to
verify that they both work.

2. which system administrator (yours or the recipient's)
sent the delivery failure? if there is something wrong
with smtp settings, then your messages (all of them)
will fail to get past your smtp server. any other
situation would suggest that your recipient's e-mail
server has a filter either on your name/domain
specifically or on posted replies period.

try this:
1. originate your message to the recipient without using
REPLY. this will determine if replies are being blocked.

2. create a web-based e-mail account and send a message to
the recipient using it. this will determine if the
problem is isolated to your own mail servers.

Answer< No, one account has the Yahoo smtp server and the other is a
oneandone smtp server

Answer< it appears to be coming from my system administrator, the message
I get says that I have an
SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data:

host mailin-01.mx.aol.com [64.12.137.89]: 554 TRANSACTION FAILED:

(FSV:B2) This email has not been delivered due to an incorrect mail server
setting in your email software.

try this:
1. originate your message to the recipient without using
REPLY. this will determine if replies are being blocked.
I have tried this, for some reason any address that is sent to me via
ebays forwarding system cannot be replied to even if I take that email
address and send it not as a reply. I can send and receive any mail from
people in my contact list but not from those who are not in it. Is there a
feature in Outlook that only accepts mail replies to people in a contact
list?
2. create a web-based e-mail account and send a message to
the recipient using it. this will determine if the
problem is isolated to your own mail servers.
I have sent these people mail via my hotmail account and they all receive
my mail, it is my only method of contacting them but it is very annoying
becuse I have to explain to them that I cannot reply to them via my normal
business address and I also have to go to the trouble of reminding them
about the details of whatever transaction we are dealing with.
