I just upgraded Office 2003. My documents are locked for edit.

Document Locks

I just upgraded my computer to a DELL and to Office Professional Edition.
All of my documents from the old 1998 version of Microsoft Word are locked
for edit. Please help. I have not put passwords on any of these documents.

Have you activated your Office 2003 software by starting Word or Excel and
clicking on Help | Activate Product?
