I miss ACT reporting capabilities

I would like to migrate my business to BCM 2007 from ACT. I have been using
BCM for about 2 months and have only 2 major issues with it - one is speed,
but no sense in going into that one here and now. The other issue is
reporting...

In ACT we used a modified Notes & History report every month in the creation
of a monthly report. I have tried to duplicate this report, but no real
success. The filters worked, but the events from years ago were dated the
previous month. Anyway is any suggestions on creating better reports -
especially similar to ACT's Notes & History? Can Access or Excel be used (I
doubt it, but...)
