bali,

Part of what you have been told is true. Publisher 2007 can open html files,
but FrontPage and Publisher html code is very different, and not
"interchangeable". Publisher and FP produce html files in very different
ways. You may or may not be successful in what you want to do. I would guess
that you won't be happy with the results.

When your friend sends you the FP files, save them to somewhere on your
computer where you can find them. In your last message in the regular
Publisher newsgroup, you said that they would be in a zip folder, so the
first step is to extract the files.

Then open Publisher. Go to File > Open and browse to where you extracted the
FP files. Find the index.htm file or the index.html file, or whatever the
"home page" file is called. It should have either a .htm extension or .html.
Open that file in Publisher.

At this point I am not sure what you will get, but it is likely to be some
or all of what is contained in the FP page. It is likely you will have to
redo the layout and formatting. If it gives you a workable "background" as
you hope, then you do a File > Save As and save the file as a .pub file.

It is likely that any navigation menu that came with the FP files will not
work in Publisher, so you will have to create a new menu. If the FP page has
a background color, then you insert that color in Publisher by going to
Format > Background and choose the color there.

You may find that not much of anything looks like the original FP page. If
this experiment of opening the FP file in Publisher does not work, then your
only option is to build a new Publisher file, and then copy and paste the
design elements of the FP page to your Publisher page.

Good luck.

Thank you so very much DavidF.
I have spoken to the Norwegian Microsoft and they told me that I can use Pub
to open any files in FP.
Yes I can cpoy and past but that will not be the same. But I will try and
see what I can do.Tes I have think of they same way as you say in this mail.
So I will try as good as I can.
but if you come up with some other ting I can try I will very much new about
it.
So thank you again.

Thanks Mary. I did see that, and hopefully I am writing in clear enough
language that bali can understand.

What bali is trying to do, I have not tested as I do not have any FP files
to test. So it will be a learning experience for both of us.

In your Publisher web design;

Format > Backgrounds> at the bottom you will see; More Backgrounds >
Picture, then browse to the background image your friend created and select
it.

Yes I use that when I put backgrounds on my web page. Ok I will try it on the
new one but I did not have any hope.
But one question more. Are there any other easy program can I use if I can
not use pub.2007 on that page my friend will make for me? It must be easy
because I am only a amatuer and not any good one. he,he
