Sorry, I'm new to this, I just bought microsoft office home and student 2007
at Radio Shack (Brand new), inserted the CD in my Compaq deskpro EN (Runs
Windows XP), typed in the correct product code (Got a green check mark) Then
after about 10-15 seconds the error message
"microsoft office home and student 2007 encountered an error during setup",
Ive tried everything, can someone help me please?

Hi Vance,

Personally, I would check if the CD is scratched and take it back to the
supplier. It should not give you that error at all.

Ive tried everything, can someone help me please?

Have you totally removed any Office trial product and it's associated
activation assistant then rebooted the computer prior to attempting to
install your purchased product? Does your computer have the proper service
pack installed for Office '07 (SP2 or later in XP?) Is there any other part
of the error message, like numbers, etc in the error message. They also are
important to give when asking for help.
