jesseok

my wife changed the password on a new windows 7 install and can't remember
it. I have another windows 7 and an xp on the same disk. My registered
license is on the version i can't get into. Can anyone tell me where the
product key is hidden in the software? Any help is greatly appreciated. I
have moved and lost my box and product key if anyone had that question :)

Peter, I've tried the Belarc thing, it only shows what's in the OS that you
are logged into. When the windows7 that i need to get into comes up on the
screen to log in, there is not a Administrator option available. I have tried
to figure out a way to run belarc on that install but haven't come up with
any ideas as i can't log into that installation. Thanks for the reply and if
you have more ideas I'd like to hear them. Thanks, Jeff

When the screen comes up, you should have your logon option and a Switch
User. Switch User and then type in Administrator and leave the password
blank.

Milly, thank you for the info. I have tried that and it tells me that the
"password or user is incorrect" I have ran out of clues as to how to get
into the OS, or just get the product code out of the files. I can get into
the OS in question from another OS on the same HDD, but don't know where to
look. Thank you for answering, Jeff

Milly, sorry for the wrong info. When administrator is used without a
password, it tells me the account has been disabled, to see the system
administrator. I hope you can help me out. Jeff

What version of Win 7 was installed? Sounds like you need to ask the wife
what password she put on the administrator account. When installed the
Admin account is blank. When a password is put on it the person that does
it should remember it. If she disabled the default admin account (which I
don't think can be done unless another administrator account is set up
first) you need to find out what account she set up and the password to that
account.

Are you saying you have TWO versions of Windows 7 on the same computer, or
are you confusing USERS with VERSIONS?

The default Administrator Account is disabled by "default" in Windows
7....as it is in Vista AFAIR...
