I need to password protect my project

I have to send my project to somone else for approval. I am new to prject and
need to know how to password protect it so they cannot change it. I tried
going to Save As and General options, but the password field is blank.

Newmodelguy1,
What version of Project are you using? When you say the password field
is blank do you mean it is greyed out or that you simply haven't created
a password yet?

Be advised that is someone really wants to change a Project file, they
probably can. Another approach you might want to use is to coordinate
with the approval authority that no changes are to be made. Mutual
understanding is generally always better than covert suspicion. Also,
consider the possibility that there may in fact be errors in the file
that need to be corrected. And, if you still have doubts about changes
you can double check by using the "Compare Project files" utility once
you get the file back.

Hope this helps.

It is 2007 standard and yes the fields are grayed out. It is a cutomer that
wants to see it and I just want to slow them down, not that they would try to
change anything, they just protect all of their excel documents they send me.

Newmodelguy1,
"Slow them down"? Whoa, it sounds like you need to cultivate a better
working relationship with your customer.

I'm not sure why the password entry box would be grayed out but here are
some things to consider.
A. Do you have the same problem with all Project 2007 files?
B. Is the file perhaps read only?
C. Is the file on a server or someplace other than your hard drive?
D. Is it possible someone else had the file open when you tried to set
up a password?
E. If all the above are "no" then it may be some form of corruption. Go
to our MVP website at, http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm, and try one
or more of the methods described in FAQ 43 - Handling project file
corruption and/or bloat.

Hope this helps.
