I need to remove an "extra" contact list

J

I have two contact lists showing up under Outlook Address Books. Both are
named Contacts. One has only three entries and the other has all of my
contacts that I want.
How do I get rid of this "extra" contact list?

Just remove it. Method depends on your version which of course you did not
post. I'm sure you can figure it out. It's not difficult.

If you see two Contacts folders in the address book interface and they have
different addresses in them, then you must have two folders, both named
"Contacts" in your Outlook data, with one being your main Contacts folder
and the other being either a subfolder of some folder or in an second data
store. If you wish to get rid of one, locate it and move the contacts ot
contains to the main Contacts folder , then delete the extra. Do this from
the main Outlook interface, not the Address Book interface.

Brian,
I don not have any contact lists shoing in the tree from the main section of
Outlook or anywhere else. This is Outlook 2003. There are only two names in
this extra list and they are both in my "main" contacts folder.
So, where do I find the folder?
Thanks

Russ,
the version is Outlook 2003. If it was easy, I would do it. I can't find the
folder listed anywhere, so I can;t just delete it. The two names in it are in
my regular contacts list and I don't see how I can have two folders with the
same name under the main Outlook section.

Use the Folder List view in the Nav Pane to see all your folders.

If the two names appear in the default Contacts folder, where to the
contacts you said show in the other Contacts reside?

Use Folder List view. That's the only way you can see your entire Folder
hierarchy.
It is easy to remove this Contacts Folder from your Outlook Address Book
view:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change… >
