i need to set Word2002 as my default editor for Outlook2003

I am currently using Outlook 2003 but Office 2002 - I would like to set Word
as my default editor for emails however, in Outlook 2003 the option in
tools>options>mail format is only to use Word 2003 as the editor. there is no
chance of me getting a Word upgrade so is there any other way to resolve this
short of downgrading my outlook?

You can't. You need the same version of Word as Outlook.
