I'm new to publisher but have created 2 different websites, each with
multiple pages, and have edited them, saved them (with filename of
index.htm), published them to web, and ftp'd them, numerous times without any
problem.
Now, when I open either of the index.htm files with Publisher, Publisher
appears to open only the first page. Page 1 displays, but there is no
indication that the other 5 pages even exist in Publisher.
But, if I open that same index.htm with Explorer, all the pages are
there and display correctly. Or, if i go the index_files folder, the pages
are all there as individual files and open individually.
What am I doing wrong/differently?

To edit, go back to your original Publisher file, not the .htm files. Make
your changes to the Pub file, save, and then Publish to the Web (2003), to
produce new html files.

Not good. I created them as WebSite files and never did save them as .pub
files. i saved them as index.htm files, then did the Publish to the Web. is
there a way to recover? do you know why it worked just fine numerous times
for me to just open the .htm file with Publisher, do my edits, save, and
Publish?, Thanks, Niche

Not good is right. Publisher 2003 can open html files, but is not a html
editor. You will be able to reconstruct your Publisher file, but
unfortunately you have a lot of work ahead of you. Basically, you will open
each .htm page in Publisher, and then save as a Pub file. After you have
accomplished that you then will combine the files, rebuild the navbar,
and...

Anyway, its too bad you didn't realize that you needed to save the Publisher
file.

Reference this article: Common Sense Computing 101 aka "Why in the world
would you lose your publisher file?" :

At the end of the article, David gives you the specifics of how to rebuild
your Publisher file.

Thank you. I was afraid that was the answer. I won't forget to use a .pub
ever again. Last night, I went thru Help reading as many topics as I could
find that I thought applied, to no avail. So, I did what I would have done
with other software - took one of the sets and worked on it basically like
you are saying, all the while hoping you would tell me a better way so I
could do the other set in a simpler way. I opened the page 1 .htm in
Publisher, saved it as a .pub, then inserted a blank page after page 1.
Opened page 2 .htm and did a select all, copy all, and pasted it into the
blank page 2 of my new .pub file, then saved the .pub file. Continued on
thru all pages, then went through about an hour of trying to figure out how
to fix the navigation bars to access the new pages. Finally, built a new
navigation bar, deleted the old one, and that fixed that problem.

Your answer at 10:09pm PST must have come right after I shut down at about
midnight CST last night! That's okay... You have totally confirmed my
decision. Also, thanks for the article to reference; I will.

I am really glad there are kind, experienced people like you willing to help
the rest of us!

Thanks for posting back. I am glad you are working through it, and I was
helpful.

Don't feel too bad about having to reconstruct the Pub file. I back up files
to sometimes 4 or 5 places, to different hard drives and mediums, and yet
discovered yesterday that I had spent more than an hour editing an image,
and forgot to save a copy of the changes before I reduced and resampled the
image as a web image....aarrgghh! I needed the edited, full size image for
print documents...and had to start all over. To make matters worse, I was
unable to duplicate my first efforts. Oh well...we all do the best we can.
