I put a table in my footer and the document slowed down to a craw.

In 2000 the footers and headers were dimmed and did not reload. In 2003 the
footer causes the document to slow and looks to reload every time a page is
scrolled over.

Typing also seems to be slowed. Checked processor and memeory capacity and
they are okay.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Visio headers and footers allow plain text
and a few document fields. Can you explain what you mean by reload?
