I have a user that receives the following error message when he tries to save
changes to an existing existing document in his My Documents Folder when not
connected to the network, "Word cannot save or create this file. Make sure
that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or
damaged. User has full admin rights on the laptop.

Sounds like a question you should ask in one of the Word support newsgroups.
This group is for OneNote.

That said I assume you've already checked to make sure his disk isn't full?
Is his My Documents folder redirected to a network drive and not
synchronized? Lots of things to look at.
